Hello and welcome to caraKnits, and thanks for stopping by.

It feels wonderful to finally be able to get going with this space for sharing musings, photos, and patterns about all things knitting (and related creative activity.) I’m still working at getting everything organized, and learning the WordPress interface, so it may be a while yet until I fully have it together here!

My knitting is my primary creative outlet for expressing my love of the natural world in tangible form.  And, while I do a lot of more ‘tech-driven’ knitting at times (lace shawls, or cabled or bramble stitch work), I really tend to be more of a renegade.  You know, one of those who changes just about every pattern in some way or other, no matter how beautiful the original is.  I do love exploring with colors and textures, and taking risks here and there, but I also love the sheer relaxation that can come from straight knitting (like a garter stitch scarf in beautiful yarn.) Knitting is so wonderful as a craft because it allows you so much variety in exploration — there are endless things one can do with two sticks and string.  The biggest challenge of all for me is not to have too many projects going at once!
