About Me

I’m Cara, and I love to knit.  I’m more of a whimsical knitter than an ‘opinionated’ one (ref: Elizabeth Zimmerman), and I enjoy taking the craft into all sorts of directions.  I was a member of the original knitlist (early-mid ’90′s), back when the world wide web was a fairly new phenomenon for non-techie types like me, and many knitters were just getting their own computers and learning the ropes.  I enjoyed the knitlist immensely, but found myself eventually having to take a really long break from both the knitlist and knitting itself as Life, in all its glory, intervened, bringing up the need to devote myself to other commitments. I didn’t knit much, but I finally began really wearing my own sweaters and shawls, instead of just churning them out.

Fairly recently, I pried open the door to my over-stashed knitting room and dug in once again.  I live and knit in a small town in SW Ohio. I like a strong espresso and Trader Joe’s Greek Honey yoghurt (not necessarily together!), cherish my three cats, love trees of all types (particularly evergreens), delight at the spontaneous, bubbly laughter of little children, am transported by Hayley Westenra’s beautiful voice, respect the probing and insightful questioning of young adults, enjoy BBC period dramas, prefer wearing comfortable clothing made from natural fibers …and that’s just a start.  I love life!
